A Tradition Since 1856 – The History of Fischer Markenschuh
After the founder's death, his son Paul Fischer took over the thriving company in 1897, which by then already employed 900 people.
The years 1914 to 1945 were characterized by the two World Wars. Despite major challenges and the destruction of the factory by a bombing raid in 1944, production continued.
In 1946, the company was expropriated as part of nationalization and converted into a "state-owned enterprise."
However, the family was not discouraged: in 1949, Herbert Fischer (son of Paul Fischer), together with his sons Joachim and Manfred Fischer, re-established Ferdinand Fischer KG in Schneverdingen.
The label "Fischer Markenschuh" was introduced in 1985 – with the motto still in effect today: "Quality from Tradition."
In 1991, the fifth generation, Klaus and Michael Fischer, joined the management board.
Since 2015, Matthias Fischer, as Managing Director, shares responsibility for the company with Klaus Fischer, thus continuing the long family tradition in the sixth generation.
